Diary Entry #3 (aka The Last Day of 2014)

12/31/14

Well, today is the last day of 2014. I don't even know what happened. It felt like 2014 flew past me like a roadrunner. For the past few years, I never had a list of resolutions to check off for each year. All I want is to be happy.

(Edit: I saw this on tumblr and really liked it
Actual goal for 2k15:
Just become a better person. Continue to unlearn problematic behavior. Strive to achieve the things I want to achieve. Be kind to people. Be compassionate. Have a sense of humor. Get healthier mentally and physically. Move forward. )
Today, my cousin came by to hang out and bake some cookies. Chocolate chip and Cheesecake to be exact. The first batch of chocolate chip cookies were burnt, but the second time it came out decent. The Cheesecake cookies came out tasteful as well. We then, watched the basketball episode from The Office, caught up with our daily lives, and watched some of Dick Clark's Rockin Eve in which One Direction was performing at (pre-recorded obvs).

Diary Entry #2

12/26/14

Yesterday of course was Christmas. It's saddening that as I get older, Christmas doesn't feel as special. There was something magical and fun as a child, believing in Santa Claus, picking some Oreos and a plate for him, and waiting excitingly for what presents were to come under the tree in the morning. Nevertheless, it was a nice day.

12/29/14

This is my last week of relaxation before school starts again. I don't want break to end. I guess I have to make the most of my free time. But, the thing is, I've been wasting my time on the Sims 2. Ever since watching Dan and Phil's videos on the Sims 4, I wanted to play the Sims myself. So that's what I did. It's very entertaining; time seems to slow down once you play the Sims because once you decide you're done playing, hours have passed before your eyes. It's addictive.

Yesterday, I watched the animated film, Anastasia, for the first time in years. More like ten years? It was on Netflix and my happy self could not wait to watch the movie. As a child, I had an Anastasia baby-doll style shirt and a Pooka (Anya's dog in the film) toy plush. I could not help admire Dimitri and his charm. I liked the dialogue between Anastasia and Dimitri; they were quick with wit and smarts.

Tomorrow, my brother, my cousin, and I are going to see The Theory of Everything. Jenan had said that it was a great film and I trust Jenan's opinions, for her taste in films are similar to mine's. Plus, critics gave positive reviews. And Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones are starring, and I'm a fan of both of them.

It's so weird the year's almost over. Thinking back to the beginning of the year, I don't really remember what happened. I just remembered major events:
  • quitting band
  • cutting my hair again by myself
  • turning 17
  • taking the SAT's
  • taking the SAT's again and improving my score
  • going to the One Direction WWA concert
  • getting accepted to university
  • not feeling close to Sami anymore
  • learning not to lash out on friends, or family, when you are feeling bad
  • driving to school finally
  • my band and I sounding very good with our cover of Dirty Paws
  • becoming interesting in film again
  • developing feminist ideas
  • the year I became very interested in superheros
Hopefully with writing this down on this blog, I won't forget who I was in 2014.

Diary Entry #1

12/22/14
So I’ve decided to document some happenings in my life knowing future me would gladly appreciate this new thing that I am doing.
Your welcome future Anne.
Love,
17 year old Anne

Today, Tony and I watched our first Hayao Miyazaki film (well, for me at least)— Howl’s Moving Castle. It was a great film, though the last fourth of the movie left me with minor questions. And Christian Bale’s voice is so odd for Howl; I can not help but remind myself of Tony’s impersonation of him in American Psycho. Nevertheless, it was a nice, magical film and introduction to more of Miyazaki’s animations. I certainly can not wait to watch more.

Yesterday was the gang’s annual holiday party. This year, we had a white elephant instead of a secret santa since it was inexpensive for our budgets. I got Jenan’s gift: a Ryan Gosling meme journal. I’ve wanted to own one and now I have it; I was certainly happy with my gift. Jenan received my gift which included a giant holiday pen with a magic 8-eque pen that answers your questions with a click of a pen. I’m happy to say that she likes it. After a plate of chicken nuggets and sweets (which included my chocolate crinkle cookies I might add), we played a board game with the name ‘picture’ in its title, then watched Love Actually. Love Actually had a cute ending, but there was a lot of profanity that hindered my total enjoyment for the film. Of all the couples featured, I loved Jamie and AurĂ©lia’s story line. It was a great time with friends and our last holiday party as high school students.

Of course, I’m in winter break now, but I have many things to do. I have to finish my scholarship essays and study my Deca materials for the test. I need to get that going and I’m stressing.

Spring/Summer 2014 Trends: Pastels

Hello! So today's post, I will be discussing the Spring and Summer trends for 2014. It will be a series-- a motivation for posting more and just blogging what I like...and that's fashion. Dun dun DUN!
In the series, each post will be about trends about the recent runway shows. Today, we will be looking at the Burberry S/S14 show.

Burberry is my favorite fashion house so it's fitting to do the first trend on the British brand. Through out the show, it's obvious that one of Christopher Bailey's main idea was to implement pastel colors, or, the "English Rose" to his designs. Cardigans, pencil skirts, and coats are adorned with these lovely colors.

Firstly, let's take a look at some of my favorite garments from the collection:

The creamy blue lining on the button-down offers
a little of the pastel trend while maintaining Burberry's
roots with the trench-style coat.

I adore this outfit. The clear vinyl over coat with
the lace shirt and skirt is a must.
A great finale outfit.

I love this outfit. The mint green cardigan and the
lace blue button down, pencil skirt, and underwear
are the dream garments that I want in my closet, but
unfortunately, don't have the $$$ to have.

The mint green lace trench coat is a nice twist
to the traditional trench coat.

Personally, I love the trend and can be worn easily with simple items such as a mint green dress or a soft yellow handbag. Here is my take on the trend with a set I made on polyvore.

The "dream" outfit I styled includes:
-Mulberry flower handbag

Yes, these garments are quite realllyy expensive. So here are some alternatives that still implement the pastel trend.

Lilac Swing Dress
Light Pink Cocoon Coat

Mint Green Combat Boots

Lemon Satchel Bag

At the end of these posts, I will have a youtube video of the trend-inspired show. So here it is, Burberry S/S14 Show. Have fun with the trend.
